What started as one of our internal Mediatech initiatives recently got a little bigger. Passing the Mic went LIVE — bringing guest speakers into our office for meaningful conversations, good questions and perspectives worth hearing.
This time, we passed the mic to professional sport, welcoming Danas Rapšys, one of Lithuania’s most accomplished swimmers, and Paulius Povilionis, Head Coach of the Lithuanian National Swimming Team, to share what really happens behind the results we see on screen.
When we watch professional swimming, we usually see the final few seconds: the race, the finish, the result. What we don’t see are the years of preparation, discipline and hard work behind that moment.
With Danas and Paulius, we got to look at professional sport from two perspectives: the athlete in the pool and the coach behind the preparation.
Danas shared what it takes to stay motivated and sharp after years of competing at the highest level, the best and hardest parts of being a professional athlete, and how training, competitions, pressure and social life all fit together.
Paulius took us behind the coaching side — from preparing an athlete for major competitions to understanding that every athlete requires a different approach to reach their best performance.

While professional swimming and working in digital media might seem worlds apart, some of the themes felt surprisingly familiar: consistency, motivation, resilience, teamwork and the drive to keep improving.

At Mediatech, we believe some of the most interesting ideas come from stepping outside our everyday work and hearing how people from completely different fields approach performance, challenges and growth. That’s exactly what Passing the Mic LIVE is about.
A huge thank you to Danas, Paulius and LTU Aquatics for spending the afternoon with us, answering our questions and giving the Mediatech team a glimpse behind the scenes of professional sport. The mic is LIVE — and there are plenty more conversations to come.
